Manchester Student Accommodation Building – Water Damage

We received a call from our friends at Pump Solutions at the end of March to a Booster Unit that had been water damaged.
The outage was costing the building thousands of pounds a day as they had to move students out of the block.

Water damaged was an under statement as the existing set looked to be sat on the bottom of a swimming pool!

Unfortunately this wasn’t a fully submersible booster set so it was only good for the scrap heap. We quickly rang around our supply chain and are indebted to Calpeda UK who managed to build us a set on Friday and our engineer Andy Shelley collected it when they opened at 8AM Monday morning. A quick turnaround up the motorway and Andy was back in Manchester installing the new set before 11AM!

Our engineers Carl Rogerson and Kieran Shields already had their scuba gear on and had removed the old set, installed a new electrical supply and prepared pipework ready for the new set. The sets had to be fully dismantled and rebuilt in situ as access was down a vertical ladder .

It was all hands on deck so Ben Brown backed the lads to ensure water was restored by 4PM in what was a 2-day turnaround from taking the call
It’s what we do and we’re proud of the lads stepping up to fully demonstrate what PressBoost is about.

Thanks again to Calpeda UK for the support and Richard Chesters and Ryan Ashurst for the work.
