Nottingham Hotel – Xylem SMB Booster Set

During an emergency callout to this hotel in Nottingham, we found a 3-pump horizontal booster set in a basement plant room with no sumps in the room. Unfortunately this spelt the end for the existing unit and whilst we were able to restore water with 1-pump, an alternative design was better suited to this plant room.

Our engineers attended site and replaced the existing set with a 3-pump Xylem SMB Booster Set with vertical pumps, modifying all pipework to suit. At the same time, working with Pump Solutions we installed 2no. submersible pumps in new pits within the plant room to prevent reoccurrence. We also installed a bund within the plant room to protect electrical works and allow the sumps to do their job protecting the equipment within.

Booster set installed between checkout and check-in to minimise disruption within the hotel, minor pipework and electrical mods. We have raised the booster set on an additional plinth to further protect the pumps in future.
