Pressurisation Unit Installations
In another busy month, we carried out a large variety of project work, with several different types of pressurisation unit installations. From left to right: First we have a Stuart Turner Midi 235 unit, this replaced a failed Mikrofill 3 unit which had been causing site issues for a long time, eventually failing due to the plastic internals splitting and causing total failure. The beauty of the Stuart Turner Midi is its slimline look, whilst still benefiting from quality pumps, a versatile/intelligent controller and an 8 litre break tank. An excellent unit, better suited to the dynamic nature of the system in question. Secondly, we have the ever reliable Lowara Presfix Beta 228. This was installed following an emergency callout from a University in Wales. We attended and found an ageing Grundfos Impress with a burnt out pump and solid state relay. The building had developed a leak in the frigid temperatures over the weekend and as such the unit failed. Unfortunately with the unit being obsolete with an obsolete pump a new unit was the only option. We attended first thing Monday morning and replaced the unit, modifying the pipework and electrics to suit and restoring supply to the building. Finally, we have the HL Hydronics H-line which we recently blogged on our News page. Another fantastic installation and a great solution for this site in the Midlands. Three great units – providing good solutions for a variety of customers.
Booster Unit Installations
Working alongside Hydraclean Ltd we carried out 4 Cold Water Booster Set installations this month. This was as part of a large scheme of works as part of continuous plant improvement across a number of sites, for one of Hydraclean’s key customers. We were supported by Xylem on this project with a variety of different sized booster sets and a mix of ‘F’ and ‘R’ version sets to ensure they utilised the space effectively. Great team effort from the lads, particularly working alongside Hydraclean on one of the jobs to upgrade the cold water storage tank at the same time. We have worked alongside Hydraclean Ltd for a number of years now, they are fantastic at what they do, specialising in water hygiene and legionella compliance whilst also carrying out a wide variety of engineering services, you can find out more about them on their website. We are all very happy with the latest phase of booster set upgrades, see some of the completed shots below:
Service and reactive work
Alongside our project work, we carried out a full offering of service works across booster sets, pressurisation units, various types/sizes of expansion vessels and finally RPZ Valves. Some examples include, the second visit of the year for a large University across all of their pressure and booster plant. Furthermore, we carried out a number of PPM’s for a large North West hospital as well as for several national FM firms. We also picked up a new service contract for a University in Manchester, which we will be carrying out in December for the first time. We also offer reactive callout cover 24/7, 365 days a year to any of our customers who carry out annual maintenance to their equipment.
